Cundari and Mason Office Building - AIA Honor Award

The Cundari and Mason Office Building evolved from the unusual constraints of a thousand square foot triangular lot and a client interested in creating a small office building.

The site is located on the southern edge of downtown Portland in a transitional area and the office building plays an important role in merging two contrasting environments, urban and residential. The structure attempts to bridge the two elements by addressing both the urban scale and the adjacent forms through references to both contexts.

The well know British architect, Sir Richard Rogers, one of the judges of the award, said of the project, "This building is a perfect example of turning a sow's ear into a silk purse."
