Gallery Park Apartments - AIA Honor Award

This seven-story apartment building sits on the South Park Blocks of the City of Portland Oregon.

Light being a scarce commodity in the rainy Northwest, the building was designed to provide the most possible light for its occupants. To achieve this, the building steps back at each floor allowing more natural light to penetrate the spaces. This allows each unit to have its own exterior deck or solarium open to the sky above each floor level.

Each level, thus, becomes different, creating the opportunity for a variety of unit plans -- every unit is unique. The Stepped-Form, which is generated acts as a striking, sculptural object within the city.
